Taiwan-based Foxtron Vehicle Technologies, a joint venture between Foxconn and Yulon Motor, on Thursday launched its new electric vehicle model, Bria. According to the company, the model will initially be offered in three variants, priced between USD 28,600 (around ₹23.7 lakh) and USD 36,540 (around ₹30.3 lakh). Foxtron said Bria is the first electric vehicle manufactured in Taiwan specifically for export to global markets.
Last week, Foxtron announced that it will acquire Yulon Motor’s passenger-car brand Luxgen for T$787.6 million (approximately USD 24.95 million). The company also stated that it plans to launch its Model B EV in Taiwan under the Bria brand.
Under the deal, Foxtron will acquire 100 per cent ownership of Luxgen, including its five sales subsidiaries, retail outlets and employees. Following the acquisition, Foxtron will assume operational control with the aim of building a more comprehensive EV value chain in Taiwan, covering product development, sales and after-sales services.
Foxconn, the world’s largest contract manufacturer of iPhones, holds a 45.6 per cent stake in Foxtron, while Taiwanese automaker Yulon Motor owns 43.8 per cent. Foxtron operates on a contract design and manufacturing services model, producing electric vehicles for multiple automotive brands.
