India will participate in the inaugural session of “Partners for Multilateralism” (P4M) at the United Nations in New York on September 21, 2026, joining a new grouping founded by the European Union, Brazil, Kenya and Canada. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will lead India’s delegation.
P4M brings together mid-sized and developing powers seeking to reform global governance and make multilateral institutions more representative, legitimate, effective and trusted, outside the traditional dominance of superpowers.
By joining, India signals its intent to support a shift in global cooperation toward a system where a broader range of nations hold decision-making power, consolidating its position as a voice for the Global South.
Jaishankar will lead India’s delegation at UN sessions through the week and deliver India’s national address at the UN General Assembly on September 26, 2026.
