The Kia Sorento diesel is priced between Rs 27.99 lakh and Rs 38.89 lakh in India. The seven-seat HTE is the entry-level variant, priced at Rs 27.99 lakh, while the six-seat diesel range starts with the HTK variant at Rs 32.69 lakh. The seven-seat diesel variants are priced between Rs 27.99 lakh and Rs 38.69 lakh.
The Kia Sorento hybrid starts at Rs 29.49 lakh and goes up to Rs 40.39 lakh for the six-seat HTX(A) Black Line AWD variant. The seven-seat hybrid HTE is priced Rs 1.50 lakh higher than the equivalent diesel variant. The six-seat hybrid range starts with the HTK at Rs 34.19 lakh.
The Sorento is available in six- and seven-seat configurations. The six-seat version gets captain seats in the second row, while the seven-seat version offers an additional seating position. The six-seat configuration is not available with the HTE and HTE(O) variants and starts from the HTK trim. Kia is also positioning the Sorento as an upgrade option for existing Seltos customers, while targeting buyers looking for a larger SUV and a hybrid powertrain.
In terms of powertrain, the Kia Sorento comes with a 2.2-litre diesel and a 1.6-litre turbo-hybrid engine. According to Kia India, the diesel powertrain will be imported, while the company plans to start local production of the hybrid engine from next year. Kia plans to gradually increase localisation for the Sorento rather than achieving full localisation from the outset.
