LG Electronics India Ltd (LGEIL) has announced a major leadership restructuring aimed at accelerating growth following its ₹11,607-crore initial public offering in October. The company said the reorganisation is designed to strengthen local decision-making, enhance operational efficiencies and position the India business for its next phase of expansion.
As part of the overhaul, Sanjay Chitkara has been elevated from Chief Sales Officer to Co-Chief Sales and Marketing Officer. He will continue to work closely with Managing Director Hong Ju Jeon, who now also assumes the additional role of Chief Sales and Marketing Officer. The company said the dual leadership structure will help bring senior management closer to market dynamics and consumer insights, enabling faster and more cohesive strategic decisions.
Yongchan Jung, previously heading manufacturing at the company’s Noida plant, has been appointed Chief Production Officer. In his expanded role, he will oversee LG’s entire India manufacturing ecosystem including facilities in Noida and Pune, as well as the upcoming plant in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. LGEIL said consolidating production leadership is crucial as it ramps up its ‘Make in India’ capabilities to meet both domestic demand and export requirements.
The restructuring also includes key appointments in customer service and human resources. Chang Hwan Kim has been named Customer Care and Service Officer, while India HR Head Jwa Nam Kim has been elevated to Chief Human Resource Officer. He will lead talent strategy and organisational development as the company transitions into the post-IPO phase.
Commenting on the leadership rejig, Jeon said the company’s responsibilities to shareholders and customers have expanded significantly after the IPO. “This restructuring is not just about role changes; it is about empowering our existing leadership team to enable faster and better decision-making and more cohesive management” he said.
Jeon added that India remains a “cornerstone” of LG’s Global South strategy. “By further streamlining our sales, manufacturing and customer service functions, we are positioning LGEIL to aggressively capture new market opportunities while further consolidating and enhancing our market leadership” he said.
The company said the changes reflect a strategic move to deepen local leadership capabilities and prepare the organisation for accelerated growth in one of LG’s most critical global markets.
