Battery manufacturing company Maxvolt Energy Industries has commenced development work on an advanced battery manufacturing facility in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, with an investment of approximately Rs 700 crore. Spread across 23,576 square metres (nearly six acres), the plant will be developed in two phases, each with a capacity of 5 GWh, taking its total planned annual production capacity to 10 GWh.
Once the Aligarh plant becomes operational, Maxvolt total planned battery manufacturing capacity, including its existing facility in Duhai, will reach 12.5 GWh per year.
The Aligarh facility will manufacture battery solutions ranging from 1 kW to 5 MW. These will include battery management systems (BMS) supporting standard AC charging, as well as Level 3 and Level 5 DC fast charging.
The company will also establish dedicated OEM assembly lines at the plant. This will expand Maxvolt manufacturing portfolio beyond two-wheelers and three-wheelers to include battery packs for four-wheeler electric passenger vehicles. The company already manufactures battery solutions for telecom backup and stationary energy storage applications.
According to Maxvolt, the Aligarh project has an estimated annual revenue potential of more than Rs 6,800 crore at full operational capacity. The facility is expected to generate 1,500 to 2,000 direct jobs and up to 10,000 indirect employment opportunities across manufacturing, engineering, logistics, and testing.
Sachin Gupta, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer, Maxvolt Energy, said that developing the plant in two phases of 5 GWh each is an operational strategy rather than just a financial decision. He explained that commissioning the first phase will allow the company to validate production lines, suppliers, and testing protocols in live operations before applying those learnings to the second phase. This approach will help the supply chain scale at a sustainable pace.
