NAMTECH (New Age Makers’ Institute of Technology), a not-for-profit education venture of ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel (AM/NS) India and India’s first Manufacturing Engineering Technology (MET) institute has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Intel Technology India Pvt. Ltd. at SEMICON India 2026.
The partnership aims to develop a future-ready workforce with foundational skills in artificial intelligence (AI) and semiconductor technologies. It will support the talent development pillar of the SEMICON 2.0 framework and aligns with the theme of SEMICON India 2026, “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem.”
NAMTECH, Intel to Expand AI and Semiconductor Learning
Under the collaboration, NAMTECH will work with Intel to roll out the Intel® AI for Future Workforce programme. The initiative will focus on building foundational AI capabilities and employability skills required for the digital economy.
The partnership will also introduce semiconductor-focused initiatives under Intel’s Digital Readiness programmes. These initiatives will help learners develop an understanding of semiconductor technologies, their applications and career pathways, along with industry-relevant technical and professional skills.
Focus on Faculty Development and Industry-Aligned Curriculum
The collaboration will support faculty development through train-the-trainer programmes and the deployment of Intel’s AI and semiconductor learning pathways. It will also include co-branded certifications and curriculum integration across NAMTECH’s programmes.
The two organisations will further explore scalable workforce-development initiatives for students, professionals and industry participants with the aim of expanding access to industry-relevant learning opportunities.
Building Skills Across the Semiconductor Ecosystem
A key focus of the partnership will be to develop a deeper understanding of the semiconductor ecosystem, covering areas such as chip design, manufacturing and testing. The initiative will also seek to create clearer career pathways connecting skilled talent with relevant opportunities across the semiconductor industry.
The MoU was exchanged in the presence of Gokul V. Subramaniam, President, Intel India and Vice President, Client Computing and Physical AI Group, Intel; Sarah Kemp, Vice President, International Government Affairs, Intel Corporation, USA; and Dr. Ibrahim Hafeezur Rehman, Director General & CEO, NAMTECH.
Dr. Ibrahim Hafeezur Rehman, Director General & CEO, NAMTECH, said India’s semiconductor ambitions will depend not only on the infrastructure and technologies being developed but also on the talent required to design, manufacture, deploy and continuously innovate around them.
He added that NAMTECH believes this requires an education model that brings industry into the learning environment and connects academic knowledge with real-world applications. According to him, the partnership with Intel combines global technology expertise with NAMTECH’s industry-integrated approach to manufacturing education to create pathways for learners to develop skills relevant to India’s semiconductor and AI-led future.
Intel India Highlights Need for Industry-Ready Talent
Shweta Khurana, Senior Director, Asia Pacific & Japan, International Government Affairs, said the convergence of AI and semiconductors is reshaping industries and creating new opportunities for India.
She added that developing the talent and expertise required to support this transformation is a shared responsibility. Through its collaboration with NAMTECH, Intel India aims to bring industry expertise and insights into education and help develop an industry-ready workforce as India works towards greater technological capabilities.
The collaboration comes at an important stage in India’s semiconductor development, as the country seeks to expand its skilled talent base across universities, technical institutions and the wider technology ecosystem.
