Fintech giant Paytm, owned by One97 Communications, has introduced a new loyalty programme allowing users to convert their points into digital gold, the company announced on Thursday. The initiative also coincides with the launch of an upgraded travel app featuring an in-app AI assistant to simplify trip planning and bookings.

Under the new programme, users can earn gold coins for person-to-person (P2P) money transfers, UPI payments, and other transactions on the platform. Once the accumulated points reach a value of Rs 15, they can be converted into digital gold. Paytm Senior Vice-President Yugal Tiwari explained that users will earn one gold point for every Rs 100 spent on Paytm, with double points for payments made using Rupay cards. Points can then be redeemed at a rate of 100 gold coins for Rs 1 worth of digital gold.

“Your P2P and UPI payments on Paytm are absolutely golden. No other app offers this level of incentive,” said Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma. “We made it simple, clean, and unlimited—anyone can earn gold without restrictions.”

The newly upgraded travel platform integrates beta AI technology, allowing users to ask questions, browse options, and make bookings for flights, trains, buses, and metro services through natural conversation. The AI assistant can recommend destinations, curate personalised itineraries, and manage bookings, offering a seamless end-to-end travel experience.

The combined rollout of the loyalty-to-gold programme and AI-powered travel app reflects Paytm’s ongoing strategy to deepen engagement on its platform by linking everyday financial transactions and lifestyle services with tangible rewards.
