PM Modi's Views On The Expansion Of AI And Digital Technology
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while delivering a speech on innovations in artificial intelligence and digital technology at the ‘AI Action Summit 2025’ held in Paris in February, said "We have unleashed the power of data through our data empowerment and protection framework, and we have made digital commerce democratic and accessible to all. This vision is the foundation of India's National AI Mission."
That is why, during our G20 presidency, we built a consensus on responsibly using AI for good and for all. Today, India is a leader in AI adoption and techno-legal solutions on data privacy.
PM Modi said "We are developing AI applications for public interest. We have one of the largest AI talent pools in the world. India is developing its own large language model taking into account our diversity. We also have a unique public-private partnership model for pooling resources like computing power." India is ready to share its experience and expertise to ensure that the future of AI is good for all.
The summit Will Be Based On Three Guiding Principles: People, Planet And Progress
People: AI should serve humanity in all its diversity, respect cultural identities, protect dignity, and ensure no one is left behind. Focus areas include human development in an AI-enabled world, multilingual and accessible systems and secure and reliable deployment.
Earth : AI development and deployment must be resource-efficient while also accelerating climate resilience, environmental protection and scientific discovery. AI must be consistent with planetary stewardship and global sustainability goals.
Progress: Ensuring equitable distribution of the benefits of AI, democratizing access to datasets, compute and models, and applying AI to healthcare, education, governance and agriculture.
Kanishk Gaur founder of the India Future Foundation, says that the AI governance guidelines recently released by the Indian government represent a more balanced approach than the guidelines and regulations adopted by other countries, and are not influenced by external interference. Most importantly, India can show the world a safe, ethical, and bias-free direction in the field of AI. The AI Impact Summit is a great opportunity for India to present its vision.
