At an event held in Mumbai, Yamaha unveiled the Aerox-E, the all-electric version of its popular Aerox 155 scooter. The new Aerox-E is powered by dual 1.5kWh detachable batteries paired with a motor that delivers 9.5kW of peak power and 48Nm of torque. According to Yamaha, the scooter uses high-energy type battery cells to enhance overall performance.
The company claims the Aerox-E offers a certified range of 106 km on a single charge. The scooter weighs 139 kg, which is about 13 kg heavier than its petrol-powered counterpart.
The Aerox-E features Eco, Standard, and Power modes, along with a Boost mode that provides short bursts of extra performance for quick overtakes. Braking duties are handled by front and rear disc brakes, with ABS provided at the front.
In terms of design, the Aerox-E retains the sporty styling of the Aerox 155, featuring twin LED headlights, LED taillamps, and a new TFT digital display with smartphone connectivity via an app. However, due to the redesigned rear section, the boot space has slightly reduced.
For now, Yamaha has only showcased the Aerox-E, with launch details and pricing yet to be announced. Alongside the Aerox-E, the company also displayed the River Indie-based EC-06 electric scooter at the event.
