Akash Sinha

Akash Sinha is the CEO & Co-founder of Cashfree Payments, India’s leading payments platform that empowers businesses with seamless digital payment solutions. A tech enthusiast, Akash’s approach to innovation revolves around leveraging technology to solve real-world challenges, creating substantial value, and enabling businesses to scale faster and more effectively. In 2015, Akash co-founded Cashfree Payments with his friend, Reeju Datta, with the goal of addressing a common pain point in the restaurant industry: delayed cash-on-delivery (COD) payments for late-night orders. What began as a solution for local restaurants has since evolved into a comprehensive payments company. Today, Cashfree Payments offers end-to-end, full-stack solutions, including payments processing, identity verifi cation, fraud monitoring, and more. With over 800,000 businesses as clients, Cashfree processes over $80 billion annually, facilitating transactions across 600 million+ bank accounts. Under Akash’s leadership, Cashfree has scaled rapidly and also pioneered innovative products, offering an extensive suite of services in collections, payouts, cross-border payments, and risk management. His ability to strategically pivot and craft market-fi t products has been key in the company’s sustainable growth over the past nine years. Akash’s entrepreneurial journey dates back to his college days at the International Institute of Information Technology – Hyderabad (IIIT-H), where he graduated with a degree in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE).
His passion for solving real-world problems led him to be selected for the prestigious Google Summer of Code (GSoC) program early in his career, where he contributed to free and open-source software development. Prior to founding Cashfree Payments, Akash also gained valuable experience working with tech giants like Amazon.
