Anthropic has recently signed a USD 10 billion, six-year deal for computing capacity with Volta Infra Holdings, an infrastructure startup founded in early 2026, according to reports.
The deal gives Anthropic access to a data center in Tydal, Norway, managed by Bitdeer Technologies Group and backed by hydropower. The site offers 133 megawatts of capacity, fitted with Nvidia’s Vera Rubin chips. Capacity will be delivered in two phases through March 2027.
Volta was founded by former executives from Brookfield Asset Management. The company has raised USD 300 million in venture funding alongside the Anthropic deal, led by Andreessen Horowitz and Altimeter Capital, with Nvidia and Michael Dell also investing. The round values Volta at USD 2.4 billion.
Anthropic has signed separate computing agreements with Google, Broadcom, Amazon, SpaceX, AMD and Akamai Technologies. It raised USD 65 billion in a funding round earlier this year and is reportedly considering a public listing.
