Blue Energy Motors (BEM), India’s No. 1 Green Truck Brand, in partnership with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has operationalised Bhiwandi’s first battery-swap station for electric heavy-duty trucks.
The development marks a key milestone in the strategic partnership announced in January 2026.Located in one of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region’s major logistics and warehousing hubs, the facility strengthens the infrastructure supporting electric heavy-duty trucks and extends the Mumbai–Pune Electric Freight Corridor, launched by Blue Energy Motors in October 2025.
Battery Swapping in Under Five Minutes
The station enables battery swapping for BEM’s electric heavy-duty trucks in less than five minutes, helping minimise charging downtime and improve fleet utilisation. By addressing a critical operational requirement in electric freight, the facility aims to enhance convenience, efficiency and operational continuity for commercial vehicle operators.
Public EV Charging Expands the Facility’s Reach
Beyond electric trucking, the facility integrates battery-swapping infrastructure with a public EV charging station. The charging infrastructure will cater to electric two-wheelers, four-wheelers and commercial vehicles, extending its utility beyond freight transportation and creating a multi-segment EV energy hub within HPCL’s established retail network.
Leadership Perspective on Electric Freight
Commenting on the development, Anand Mimani, CEO - EV & New Energy Business, Blue Energy Motors, said, “Our focus at Blue Energy Motors is on making electric freight a practical and scalable reality in India. Our partnership with HPCL brings together our strengths to build the energy infrastructure needed to support this transition. Bhiwandi with its strong freight and logistics activity, is an important market for us. This first facility is a meaningful step forward, and we look forward to expanding our network of battery-swapping and charging facilities across key markets, supporting electric trucking and serving the wider EV ecosystem.”
Integrated Infrastructure to Support Electric Mobility
The commissioning of the facility reflects BEM’s broader approach to advancing electric freight through the integration of vehicles, energy infrastructure and operational support. By combining rapid battery swapping for heavy-duty trucks with public charging facilities, the initiative addresses the distinct energy requirements of commercial freight operators as well as other electric vehicle users.
HPCL Partnership Strengthens the EV Ecosystem
The collaboration also highlights the potential of existing energy retail networks to play an expanded role in India’s electric mobility transition. As freight operators increasingly explore electrification, partnerships that combine vehicle technology, energy infrastructure and established retail networks can help build the foundation for wider adoption of electric commercial vehicles.
Blue Energy Motors’ Green Freight Milestones
Blue Energy Motors is advancing green freight mobility through its electric and LNG-powered heavy-duty truck solutions. The company has more than 1,400 green heavy-duty trucks operating across key freight routes in India and has crossed 150 million green kilometres on Indian roads. According to the company, these operations have helped reduce CO₂ emissions by more than 44,000 tonnes, equivalent to the carbon absorption capacity of approximately 1.8 million trees.
