Canon India is widening its retail footprint as it targets more than 10,000 active consumer printing retailers across 700 cities by the end of 2027, effectively doubling its current reach. The expansion will focus on strengthening the company’s presence in Tier II, Tier III and Tier IV markets, according to media reports.
The move comes amid sustained double-digit year-on-year growth in Canon India’s Consumer Printing business. Through the expanded network, the company aims to improve access to printing products and services while catering to demand across consumer, SME, education, enterprise and institutional segments.
Printing requirements are evolving across households, schools, small businesses and enterprises, particularly in smaller cities where entrepreneurship, digital adoption and education-led demand are growing. Canon plans to leverage its broader retail network to improve product availability, strengthen local distribution and offer customers easier access to product consultations and after-sales support.
Alongside retail expansion, Canon India is investing in product development, digital commerce and partner capabilities as part of its broader India growth strategy. Its Canon Passport Program currently supports more than 5,000 active reseller partners through a digital rewards and engagement platform. The company is now extending its channel initiatives with the introduction of BizBee for its B2B partner network.
BizBee will serve System Integrators, Value-Added Resellers and other partners with access to incentives, product and solution training, technical certifications, business resources and digital tools. The initiative is aimed at strengthening Canon’s B2B channel network across enterprise, education and institutional markets.
Toshiaki Nomura, President and CEO, Canon India said, “India is central to Canon’s long-term growth ambitions, underpinned by the resilience of its economy and the emergence of new centres of enterprise and consumption. As education, digitisation and infrastructure reshape demand across Tier lll and Tier IV markets, we see a significant opportunity to unlock the next phase of growth for our printing business. Our ambition to build a network of over 10,000 active retailers across 700 cities by 2027 reflects our commitment to invest ahead of the curve and bring Canon closer to customers through trusted touchpoints that combine first-hand product experience with expert guidance. By combining scale with customer-led innovation and strong channel partnerships, we are positioning Canon to lead and shape the future of printing in India.”
Canon India is also broadening its omnichannel distribution strategy to support its retail expansion, with a focus on traditional resellers, large-format retail chains, e-commerce, quick commerce and enterprise-focused partners. The company currently has more than 400 active PIXMA Zones across the country and plans to add over 500 PIXMA Zone Lite stores this year. Through its Canon eSHOP platform, authorised resellers can also showcase and sell Canon products online.
The expanded channel network is designed to give customers greater flexibility to research and purchase products through both online and offline formats, while helping Canon strengthen its presence beyond the major metropolitan markets. The company is also stepping up investments in retailer engagement and frontline sales capabilities.
Its Retail Display Incentive Program currently covers more than 1,000 partners, with the initiative focused on improving Canon product visibility across physical retail outlets. In parallel, Canon plans to expand its RetailChamp Initiative from 400 to more than 1,000 retail sales personnel. The programme is aimed at enhancing product knowledge and strengthening customer consultation across the retail network.
Beyond consumer retail, Canon India is looking to expand its System Integrator network to more than 500 partners nationwide. The move is expected to strengthen the company’s reach across enterprise, education and government segments.
C Sukumaran, Vice President, Canon India said, “Our channel ecosystem will be central to translating Canon’s growth ambition into business impact. As we expand our reach, our focus is on building the capabilities of our partners and frontline teams to understand local needs, create demand and deliver trusted customer experience. Through initiatives such as Canon Passport, RetailChamp and BizBee, we are strengthening partner engagement, knowledge and enablement across the ecosystem. BizBee, in particular, will equip our B2B partners and System Integrators with the training, certifications and business tools needed to unlock opportunities across enterprise, education and government segments. Together, these efforts will help us build a more capable partner network and drive solution-led growth across consumer, SME and institutional markets.”
With a broader network of retail and channel partners, Canon India aims to build a stronger presence across both emerging and established markets. The expansion combines physical stores, digital commerce, reseller engagement and B2B partnerships with investments in PIXMA Zone Lite outlets, System Integrators and trained retail personnel expected to drive consumer printing growth in smaller cities and improve access for education, SME, enterprise and institutional customers.
