Delhi-NCR Tops Zomato’s Food Delivery Charts in 2025: Zomato report
Delhi-NCR logged more than 4.22 crore additional orders compared to Mumbai and 4.23 crore more than Bengaluru during 2025, cementing its position as the platform’s most active region.

Delhi-NCR has emerged as Zomato’s largest market by order volumes in 2025, overtaking traditional heavyweights Mumbai and Bengaluru, according to the company’s annual data-led recap, “This Is How India Ordered.” The report tracks ordering patterns across cities, campuses, transport hubs and festive periods over the year.

Zomato’s data shows that Delhi-NCR logged more than 4.22 crore additional orders compared to Mumbai and 4.23 crore more than Bengaluru during 2025, cementing its position as the platform’s most active region. The capital region also defined Zomato’s peak consumption window nationwide, with 8:25 PM identified as the single busiest minute of the year. At that time alone, users in Delhi-NCR placed 18.72 lakh orders, highlighting the region’s strong late-evening demand.

The report also pointed to growing order volumes beyond major city centres. University campuses emerged as key consumption hubs, led by IIT Kharagpur with 2.4 lakh orders over the year, followed by IIT BHU and IIT Bombay. Among transit locations, Vijayawada Junction stood out as the most active railway station on the platform, recording 1.4 lakh orders in 2025.

Festive occasions continued to drive sharp surges in food delivery demand. On Raksha Bandhan, customers ordered sweets at an average rate of 171 orders per minute, while Christmas saw cake orders touching 98 per minute. Zomato noted that its highest order volumes consistently clustered within a narrow window between 8:22 PM and 8:25 PM.

Zomato’s international markets also showed steady traction. The UAE led overseas demand with 2.3 lakh orders in 2025, followed by the US at 1.2 lakh orders and the UK with 80,000 orders.

Ahead of New Year’s Eve, the company increased incentives for delivery partners to ₹120–₹150 per order during peak evening hours. Zomato clarified that the incentive increase was part of its standard festive-season strategy and not connected to any ongoing gig worker protests.
