Greenply Industries Limited, a manufacturer of plywood and interior solutions, has partnered with green logistics operator GreenLine Mobility Solutions Ltd to integrate LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas)-powered transportation into its outbound logistics operations.
The partnership was formally marked with the flag-off of GreenLine LNG-powered trucks from Greenply manufacturing facility in Vadodara. The trucks will transport products from the Vadodara plant to various destinations across Greenply’s distribution network, supporting the integration of cleaner mobility solutions into its freight operations.
According to GreenLine, its LNG-powered trucks can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 40%, SOx by up to 100%, NOx by up to 59%, particulate matter by up to 91% and CO by up to 70% compared with conventional diesel-powered vehicles. The actual reduction in emissions may vary depending on vehicle configuration, fuel quality and operating conditions.
For Greenply, the initiative is part of its broader sustainability strategy, which extends beyond manufacturing to other areas of its value chain, including logistics and distribution. The company aims to explore more responsible mobility solutions while maintaining the efficiency and reliability of its supply chain.
Sanidhya Mittal, Joint Managing Director, Greenply Industries Limited, said sustainability is not limited to the company’s manufacturing facilities but also extends to how products and materials move across the value chain. He added that the introduction of LNG-powered trucks at the Vadodara facility is a first step towards exploring more responsible mobility solutions for its logistics operations.
Madhur Taneja, CEO, GreenLine Mobility Solutions Ltd, said the transition towards lower-emission logistics requires practical solutions that can be integrated into existing supply chains without compromising operational efficiency. He added that GreenLine’s LNG-powered fleet provides businesses with an opportunity to take a step towards greener road freight.
GreenLine currently operates more than 1,000 LNG- and electric-powered heavy commercial vehicles across major freight corridors in India. The company serves industries including steel, cement, mining, FMCG and chemicals. Its fleet has travelled more than 100 million kilometres and has collectively helped customers reduce over 27,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions.
Greenply will now evaluate the operational feasibility of LNG-powered transportation across its dispatch network. Based on the learnings from the initiative and operational requirements, the company will assess opportunities to incorporate additional responsible mobility solutions into its logistics ecosystem.
