Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has announced the signing of a new Taj hotel in Mohali, Punjab, strengthening its presence in one of the state’s fastest-growing urban centres. The project, which will be developed as a greenfield property, marks another step in IHCL’s strategy to expand across high-potential commercial and lifestyle destinations.
Commenting on the development, Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President- Real Estate & Development, IHCL, said Mohali’s rapid emergence as an IT and commercial hub makes it a strategic market for the company. She added that Punjab’s growing popularity as a destination for weddings and large social events further supports IHCL’s expansion plans in the region.
The upcoming Taj Mohali will feature 225 rooms and offer uninterrupted views of the surrounding greenery. The hotel will house multiple dining options, including an all-day dining restaurant, a bar and a specialty restaurant. Guests will also have access to a range of leisure and wellness facilities such as a swimming pool, gym, health club and the brand’s signature J Wellness Circle.
A key highlight of the property will be its expansive banqueting facilities, spanning over 26,000 square feet. This is expected to make it the largest event venue in the region, catering to weddings, corporate events and large social gatherings.
Mohali a planned city known for its modern infrastructure, hosts a growing concentration of IT companies, educational institutions and sports facilities, making it an important growth corridor in Punjab. With the signing of the Taj Mohali, IHCL’s portfolio in Punjab will expand to 14 hotels, including seven properties currently under development.
