Imarticus Learning has launched 'Future Skills for Bharat', a portfolio of industry-focused certificate programmes designed to equip undergraduate students with skills aligned with emerging opportunities in technology and finance. Offered in association with E&ICT Academy, IIT Kanpur, part of the EICTA Consortium under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the initiative opens with AI Engineering & Infrastructure and AI for Finance.
The portfolio focuses on sectors expected to shape India’s growth, including artificial intelligence (AI), data centres, semiconductors, embedded engineering, robotics, drones, aerotech, spacetech, electronics manufacturing and financial technology (fintech).
Programmes Target Emerging Technology and Finance Skills
AI Engineering & Infrastructure focuses on how AI systems are built, deployed, monitored and scaled. Its curriculum covers large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), AI agents, APIs, containers, cloud computing, GPUs and responsible AI.
AI for Finance prepares students to apply AI to financial analysis, forecasting, credit risk assessment, fraud detection and investment research. The programme does not require a coding background.
The portfolio will subsequently expand to electric mobility and digital finance through EV Technology and FinTech & Digital Finance. EV Technology will cover battery packs, Battery Management Systems, motors, power electronics, thermal management, charging infrastructure and vehicle software. FinTech & Digital Finance will explore India Stack, UPI, digital lending, WealthTech and RegTech, alongside their economic and regulatory frameworks.
Industry Leaders Highlight Practical Learning
Commenting on the launch, Nikhil Barshikar, Founder and CEO of Imarticus Learning, said, “Every employer we work with is hiring for AI and electric mobility roles that didn't exist when today's final-year students picked their branch. In just four years, the job description has changed underneath them. Future Skills for Bharat is built to close that gap.”
He added that the initiative aims to help students understand industry systems, constraints and trade-offs, enabling them to adapt as technology and job requirements evolve.
Dr. ARKS Srinivas, Joint Academic Coordinator, EICTA - IIT Kanpur, said, “The next decade will belong to engineers who understand how AI actually works, not only how to use it.” He added that the programmes would help students understand the technology infrastructure supporting India’s AI ambitions, combining academic fundamentals with industry context and practical capabilities.
Projects Connect Learning with Industry Applications
The programmes incorporate India-specific applications, including UPI and India Stack, electric-vehicle charging, domestic mobility requirements, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) frameworks and India’s expanding AI ecosystem.
Participants will complete three guided projects alongside capstone-level work. Depending on their chosen programme, projects may include deploying an AI model as a working service, configuring an AI finance assistant using a company’s annual report, designing a 40 kWh battery pack for an Indian electric bus, or developing a UPI transaction dashboard.
These projects are intended to give students demonstrable work to discuss during internship and placement opportunities, complementing their formal credentials with practical experience.
Programme Format, Certification and Eligibility
Each programme follows a 60-hour, two-month live learning format, combining structured modules, four masterclasses led by IIT/NIT faculty and three guided projects. The format introduces students to technologies, business models and regulatory frameworks while they continue their undergraduate studies.
Learners who meet the programme requirements will receive a completion certificate under E&ICT Academy, IIT Kanpur. The programmes do not confer an IIT degree, diploma or alumni status.
The portfolio is primarily designed for BTech students across academic years and disciplines, including Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Computer Science, Information Technology and related fields. AI for Finance and FinTech & Digital Finance are also relevant to BCom, BBA and other commerce undergraduates.
Enrolments Open for Initial Courses
Enrolments are now open for AI Engineering & Infrastructure and AI for Finance. EV Technology and FinTech & Digital Finance will be introduced subsequently with additional programmes planned across emerging technology-led sectors.
Through Future Skills for Bharat, Imarticus Learning and E&ICT Academy, IIT Kanpur aim to help undergraduate students build industry-relevant capabilities and prepare for evolving opportunities in technology and finance.
