Indian Startups Secure Funding to Expand Operations and Product Offerings
Indian startups Fragaria Fruits, Fery Rides, and Orange Sugar have raised seed and pre-seed funding to expand operations, enhance product offerings, and strengthen their market presence.

Three Indian startups—Fragaria Fruits, Fery Rides, and Orange Sugar—have successfully raised funding in recent rounds to scale operations, expand product offerings, and enhance their market presence.

Chennai-based farming startup Fragaria Fruits has secured USD 2 million in a seed funding round led by WEH Ventures, with participation from Rainmatter, Spiral Ventures, and angel investors including Sashi Kumar. The startup had earlier raised INR 1.5 crore in a pre-seed round.

Founded in 2024 by Harish Varadharajan, Timothy Chad Van Niekerk, and Damian López-Salazar, Fragaria Fruits aims to transform fruit consumption in India by offering sustainably grown produce through advanced farming techniques. Its flagship brand, Oh! Fruits, delivers European strawberries cultivated via vertical farming technology in Chennai, which are reportedly twice as sweet as conventional varieties, pesticide-free, and have a shelf life up to three times longer.

The newly raised funds will support expansion in Bengaluru, introduction of premium fruits like blueberries and raspberries, and ensure a year-round supply of high-quality, sustainable produce. Daily production in Bengaluru is set to increase from 2–3 kilograms to 120–150 kilograms, strengthening its position in the premium fruit segment.

Women-led mobility platform Fery Rides, based in Gurugram, has raised INR 2.075 crore in a seed funding round led by IAN Angel Fund, with participation from investors Hari Balasubramanian, Uday Chatterjee, and Sri Prakash.

Founded in April 2023 by Ajay Kumar, Vindhya Mehrotra, and Himanshu Chaubey, Fery Rides provides safe, sustainable, and women-driven transportation. Each ride is operated by trained and verified women drivers, known as Sister Partners, with features like real-time tracking, SOS alerts, and WhatsApp-enabled customer support. All vehicles are electric, emphasizing sustainability.

The funds will be used to enhance the technology platform, expand operations beyond the Delhi NCR, and onboard more women drivers. Since its launch, Fery Rides has completed over 65,000 eco-friendly rides, empowered more than 250 women drivers, and recorded over 50,000 app downloads.

Premium kidswear brand Orange Sugar has raised INR 4 crore in a pre-seed angel funding round led by Consumer Collective by Atrium, with co-lead Ramakant Sharma. The round also saw participation from investors including Saurabh Jain, Srivatsan Chari, Kunal Mahipal, Meghana Agarwal, and Sunil Khaitan.

Founded by Tarun Agrawal, Payal Agarwal, and Bharath Gupta, Orange Sugar specializes in 100% cotton essentials for children up to ten years, focusing on comfort, safety, and modern design. The funds will be used to expand the product range, strengthen the distribution network across online and offline channels, invest in brand building, and enhance manufacturing and supply chain operations. Orange Sugar’s products are available on Myntra, FirstCry, Nykaa Fashion, and its direct-to-consumer platform.
