Isuzu unveils its first fully electric pickup truck, the D-Max EV, at the CV Show in Birmingham, featuring full-time 4x4, 1-tonne payload, and 3.5-tonne towing capacity.

Isuzu Motors has officially unveiled its first fully electric commercial pickup truck, the Isuzu D-Max EV, at the 2025 Commercial Vehicle Show (CV Show) held at the NEC in Birmingham. This marks a historic moment, as it becomes the first electric pickup in the European automotive market to offer full commercial capabilities.

The production of the D-Max EV has commenced in Thailand. The electric pickup had made its initial appearance in India earlier this year, in January 2025, as a concept at the Bharat Mobility Expo held in New Delhi.

High Performance with Zero Emissions

The Isuzu D-Max EV is powered by a 66.9 kWh lithium-ion battery, delivering a WLTP-certified range of 263 km. It features a dual-motor setup — 43 kW at the front and 97 kW at the rear — producing a combined output of 140 kW and 325 Nm of torque. The electric pickup accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 10.1 seconds, with a top speed of 128 km/h.

Ready for Rugged Terrain

With full-time 4x4, multi-level regenerative braking, and Eco Mode, the D-Max EV is built for both efficiency and off-road readiness. It boasts 600 mm water wading capacity, 210 mm ground clearance, and impressive approach (30.5°) and departure (24.2°) angles, making it suitable for challenging terrain.

New Tech for a Smoother Ride

The D-Max EV introduces a new De-Dion rear suspension, replacing the traditional leaf spring setup, offering improved handling and comfort. Cabin noise and vibrations are reportedly reduced by up to 10% under full acceleration. It also features Isuzu’s latest infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on a high-resolution touchscreen.

Tough Build with Smart Features

Built on a reinforced ladder frame chassis, the D-Max EV supports heavy payloads and includes a Rough Terrain Mode and enhanced Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS) for superior safety. It retains the toughness and reliability of its diesel counterpart while offering a greener alternative.

Although currently launched for the European market, the D-Max EV’s concept showcase in India hints at a possible future launch in the country.

The electric pickup will be offered in two premium trims — Extended Cab and Double Cab, mirroring the diesel-powered DL40 and V-Cross models. Isuzu is offering an 8-year or 160,000 km warranty, making it a strong contender for use in construction, agriculture, utility fleets, and by eco-conscious consumers seeking a sustainable commercial solution.
