L Catterton, a global consumer-focused investment firm, has entered into a definitive agreement to invest in Nandhana Foods, a restaurant group specializing in South Indian cuisine. The investment will support the company’s next phase of growth with L Catterton providing industry expertise and operating capabilities to help it scale.
Nandhana Foods has operated in the South Indian cuisine segment for more than three decades, focusing on taste, authenticity, food quality and menu variety, along with a customizable spice profile. The company operates two restaurant brands, Nandhana Palace and RNR, specializing in Andhra and Karnataka cuisine.
South Indian cuisine is among the largest segments of India’s food services market, driven by rising per capita spending on dining out and food delivery, along with a growing number of consumption occasions.
L Catterton manages approximately USD 40 billion in equity capital across private equity, credit and real estate platforms, and has invested in around 30 restaurant businesses to date, including Dishoom, P.F. Chang’s, Velvet Taco, Baja Fresh, Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen, Cigierre, HUGE, Impresario and Mendocino Farms. Founded in 1989, the firm has made over 300 investments in consumer brands globally.
