Microsoft Launches Fourth Datacenter Region in Hyderabad

Microsoft has launched India South Central, its fourth datacenter region in India, in Hyderabad. The new region expands the company’s cloud and AI infrastructure and is designed to support enterprise AI adoption, cloud services, digital transformation and data residency requirements.

The Hyderabad region is Microsoft’s largest datacenter region in India and adds to its existing cloud regions in Pune, Chennai and Mumbai. The company said the new region will provide lower latency, higher resilience and local data storage for customers across industries.

“India is one of the world’s most dynamic AI markets and our newest datacenter region reflects our long-term commitment to helping every organisation in the country innovate with trusted cloud and AI capabilities. With India South Central now live, we are expanding the digital infrastructure needed to power the country’s AI economy,” said Puneet Chandok, President, Microsoft India and South Asia.

The launch is part of Microsoft’s USD 17.5 billion investment in India, announced earlier this year, to expand AI infrastructure, cloud capacity and digital skills.

Microsoft said organisations including Adani Group, HDFC Bank, Air India, Apollo Hospitals, Meesho, PhysicsWallah, Fractal and Kore.ai are among the early customers using the new region. The company added that the datacenter is powered by a combination of renewable energy, water-efficient cooling technologies and infrastructure designed to improve operational efficiency.

Microsoft also announced Microsoft Discovery, an AI platform for scientific research and development, now available in India through the new datacenter region.

In addition, Microsoft said GitHub Copilot Coding Agent, Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI Service and Copilot Studio are available through the new region, enabling organisations to build, deploy and scale AI applications while keeping data within India.
