Nykaa is reportedly in discussions to acquire a majority stake in Deepika Padukone’s premium skincare brand 82°E, as it looks to strengthen its House of Nykaa portfolio amid intensifying competition.
According to the report, the deal remains under negotiation, with Nykaa’s scale, market leadership, and a cumulative beauty customer base of over 42 million seen as key levers to accelerate growth and drive repeat purchases for 82°E. The potential acquisition is also aimed at revitalising the brand, which has faced challenges in meeting its growth expectations.
Introduced in late 2022 as a direct-to-consumer skincare venture, 82°E is likely to see Deepika Padukone retain a minority stake if the proposed transaction materialises.
The brand has encountered headwinds, including premium pricing of around Rs 2,500 for 50 ml products, a somewhat diffused positioning, and intense competition from digital-first players. As per regulatory filings, 82°E reported a 30 percent year-on-year decline in revenue to Rs 14.7 crore in FY25, with losses standing at Rs 12.26 crore.
Nykaa and Padukone already share an established association, with the actress coming on board as a global brand ambassador in September last year. She has since fronted marquee campaigns such as the Pink Friday Sale and Nykaaland.
