Stripe has finalized an agreement to acquire OpenRouter, an AI startup that enables companies and developers to access and switch between different AI models, for more than USD 7 billion, according to the reports, the final acquisition price could still change.
The deal comes months after OpenRouter raised USD 113 million in a Series B round at a reported valuation of USD 1.3 billion. The company has raised more than USD 150 million to date with investors including CapitalG, Andreessen Horowitz, Menlo Ventures and Sequoia.
Founded in 2023, New York-based OpenRouter provides access to hundreds of AI models through a single platform. The company has reported 8 million users globally and access to more than 400 models.
The acquisition follows reports last month that Stripe and OpenRouter were in talks. Stripe has declined to comment on the deal, while OpenRouter also did not comment.
