Swiggy, India’s leading on-demand convenience platform has announced a significant expansion of its Food on Train service to 122 railway stations across the country. In addition, the company has extended the pre-order window for meals from 24 hours to 96 hours, providing travelers with greater flexibility and convenience in planning their journeys.
The newly added stations include Anantpur (Andhra Pradesh), Madurai (Tamil Nadu), Alwar (Rajasthan), Kozhikode (Kerala), Khurda Road (Odisha), Yesvantpur (Karnataka), and Gonda (Uttar Pradesh), reflecting Swiggy’s commitment to enhancing access to quality food across India’s rail network.
During the recent festive season (October 16 to November 3, 2025), Swiggy observed strong engagement with its Food on Train service. Biryani was the most-ordered item, followed by Masala Dosa, Burger, Pav Bhaji, Margarita Pizza, and Corn Chaat. Notably, 35% of travelers added at least one dessert to their meal, with items such as Triple Chocomelt Waffle, Tender Coconut Ice Cream, Gulab Jamun, Biscoff Cheesecake Jar, Rasgulla, and Black Forest Pastry among the favorites.
Leading restaurant partners featured in the service included Haldiram’s, Paradise Biryani, A2B, Hotel Aryaas, Annai Restaurant, Rominus Pizza & Burger, and McDonald’s, highlighting the platform’s ability to provide both local and national culinary options to passengers.
“Food is an integral part of festive celebrations in India, and our Food on Train service ensures that travelers can enjoy familiar flavors even while on the move,” said Deepak Maloo, VP – Food Strategy, Customer Experience & New Initiatives at Swiggy. “With our network now spanning 122 stations and a four-day pre-booking window, passengers can plan their meals in advance and enjoy trusted, high-quality food from local favorites and leading national brands.”
Regional trends during the festive season revealed distinct preferences: northern travelers favored dishes such as Biryani, Aloo Paratha, and Red Paprika Pizza; southern passengers preferred traditional breakfast items like Dosa, Curd Rice, Pongal, Poori Sabzi, and Idli; eastern travelers opted for Thalis and rice bowls; and western travelers gravitated toward street-food specialties such as Pav Bhaji and Vada Pav.
Certain trains recorded particularly high engagement, including the Garib Rath Express (Chennai to Delhi), Seshadri Express, Sabari Superfast Express, and Kerala Express. On one occasion, 28 out of 72 passengers in a single coach on the SMVT Bengaluru – New Tinsukia Festival Special received meals simultaneously through the service.
With this expansion, Swiggy continues to strengthen its position as a leading provider of food delivery solutions for rail travelers, enhancing convenience and accessibility while reflecting the diversity of India’s culinary landscape.
