UP, Yamanashi Sign Four MoUs; INR 600 Cr MSME Fund

Uttar Pradesh and Japan’s Yamanashi Prefecture have signed four Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) covering technical training, skills development, tourism and Japanese Global Capability Centres (GCCs), along with a INR 600 crore fund announced by Yamanashi to support its MSMEs investing in Uttar Pradesh.

The agreements were announced at the Japan-India Business Networking Event in Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also announced a dedicated Yamanashi Desk at Invest UP and regular coordination with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The first MoU between Invest UP and the Technical Training & Research Centre, Kanpur, focuses on technical training and workforce development. Another agreement between the Tourism Department and Japan will promote Buddhist tourism-related investments.

The third MoU between Invest UP and Yamanashi representatives focuses on establishing Japanese GCCs in Uttar Pradesh, particularly in Noida and Greater Noida. The fourth, involving the Labour Department and Yamanashi representatives, will focus on developing Japanese-language skills and training workers for employment opportunities in Japan.

The Yamanashi Desk will coordinate with the prefecture, businesses and investors. Investment projects, approvals, industry requirements and challenges will be reviewed every 90 days.

Yogi Adityanath said the ₹600 crore fund, dedicated Yamanashi Desk and coordination with JETRO and JICA would help move the partnership from discussions to implementation.
