Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers has strengthened its retail presence in Chennai with the launch of a new flagship showroom on Anna Salai located next to its existing store. The opening marks an important milestone in the brand’s 125 year journey in the jewellery industry.
Spread across 14000 sq ft the new showroom has been developed as a multi level retail destination with dedicated sections for different jewellery categories. The ground floor showcases gold precious and jadau jewellery while the first floor focuses on diamond solitaire and platinum collections offering customers a more specialised shopping experience.
The second floor introduces Atelier VBJ a new retail concept by the brand. Created as a private and immersive environment the space features lounges private viewing rooms and personalised services. The display format is designed to be more curated with a selected range showcased while the larger collection is made available on request.
Amarendran Vummidi, Managing Partner, VBJ, said, “Designing this store meant translating VBJ’s legacy into a space that feels relevant today. The layout has been structured so each category has its own environment, making the journey more intuitive. We have paid close attention to how the store transitions across floors - from the material choices to the overall spatial experience - so that each level serves a distinct purpose while remaining connected to the brand’s roots.”
The launch comes as Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers accelerates its expansion across Tamil Nadu and Telangana with upcoming stores planned in Coimbatore Tiruchirappalli and Hyderabad while also deepening its presence in Chennai through locations including T. Nagar and Chromepet. On the international front the brand is strengthening its footprint in the United States by building on its existing presence in Texas with plans to expand into Milpitas in California.

Founded in 1900 Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers is a fifth generation family led jewellery brand recognised for its legacy of craftsmanship and heritage jewellery making. The company was also involved in recreating the historic Sengol which was later reinstated in Parliament House in India. The brand continues to emphasise traditional bridal jewellery while also expanding its portfolio of contemporary design focused collections.
