Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has commenced production of the new Volkswagen Taigun at its advanced Pune facility, reinforcing the Group’s “Make in India, for India and the world” vision. The new model combines high localisation, precision manufacturing, and a deep understanding of Indian customer preferences.
The latest Taigun features a bold, refreshed design, premium interiors, and continues Volkswagen’s commitment to European driving dynamics, superior comfort, and uncompromising 5-star safety. Designed for India’s diverse driving conditions, it builds on the success of its predecessor while incorporating advanced features tailored to local needs.
Piyush Arora, MD & CEO of Škoda Auto Volkswagen India, said the production milestone highlights the maturity of the company’s world-class manufacturing ecosystem in India and strengthens the country’s role as a strategic production and export hub for the Group. Nitin Kohli, Brand Director, Volkswagen India, added that the new Taigun is central to the company’s SUV strategy, catering to discerning Indian buyers while elevating the overall customer experience.
Since its debut in 2021, the Taigun has produced over 1,43,000 units in India, with around 30% exported globally. The new iteration is expected to further strengthen Volkswagen’s SUV portfolio, offering a balanced blend of design, practicality, comfort, and performance for Indian and international markets.
