Dr. Priyanka ReddyFounder, DNA Skin Clinic & Wellness Centre.

Dr Priyanka Reddy is a renowned dermatologist, cosmetologist and trichologist in Bangalore. She is the founder of DNA Skin Clinic and Wellness Centre, a leading dermatology centre in the city. She has a keen eye for aesthetics and believes in a holistic approach to healthy skin, body, and mind.

Her qualifications include M.B.B.S, M.D;D.V.L and Fellowship in Cosmetology from the USA. After completing her M.D., she extended her training in cosmetology under many highly-experienced doctors in the United States. This experience made her an expert in treatments related to injectables like fillers and botox, and in anti-aging. Not only that, to keep up with the rising demand of laser treatments, she got trained in various laser technologies.

When she completed her Cosmetic Fellowship from the US, she decided to come back home to India and use her knowledge and expertise to provide high quality skin care treatments. While exploring various working options, she was very particular about having an honest and ethical practice. Her patients were her first priority and she wouldn’t have it any other way. She dreamt of providing her patients with one-stop holistic solutions for all their skin, hair and body concerns. This led to the inception of DNA Skin Clinic. With establishing her own clinic, she had the freedom to manage and hire staff with the same interests and, more importantly, ethics. She could also ensure that there is mutual respect amongst the staff, patients and doctors.

She is also using this clinic for the upliftment of the underprivileged by providing them with work opportunities. She takes in people from poor background, people without formal degrees but a passion to work, and trains them. All of her clinic staff, except for doctors, have been trained this way. In fact, her current accountant was once a janitor in the clinic. “I identify their best skills and train them accordingly. This gives me a lot of satisfaction and it also ensures accountability and satisfaction from their end. It benefits both the individual and the company.” exclaims Dr Priyanka.

Her dedication, hard work and contributions to the skin care industry didn’t go unnoticed. DNA Skin Clinic won ASSOCHAM COSM’e India Awards in 2017 for the “Best Skin and Hair Clinic of the Year”. Dr Priyanka is also the recipient of the prestigious Global Business Award,2018.

Commenting on the cosmetic industry in India, Dr Priyanka says “Cosmetic industry is booming in India right now. Since there is so much awareness, most of the patients or clients come and ask for a certain procedure rather than how to treat the condition. Companies, investors and foreign pharmaceutical industries are eyeing India now and want to explore Indian market because of rising demand and a vast population.”

Besides models and celebrities, white-collar workers and housewives have become a significant part of Dr Priyanka’s clientele. “Aesthetics is on a raising demand these day because of increasing awareness, accessibility and ever raising beauty standards in the society. Technological advancement has become a double-edged sword. It is definitely increasing the awareness and accessibility but it is also spreading a lot of misinformation and guiding people in a wrong direction.” says Dr Priyanka.

“One thing that I always advise my patients is that don’t self-medicate. Do not buy over the counter medications or use something suggested by your family / friends. Most of the skin improvement products have steroids or hydroquinone that are detrimental to your skin. Stay safe. Consult an expert and improve the health of your skin inside out.”

Besides being a skilled dermatologist, Dr Priyanka strongly supports “holistic wellbeing”. She has been advocating the benefits of natural farming and educating her clients about how simple, rich food can be grown not just in gardens at home, but also in smaller spaces like balconies. She also conducts workshops in companies and schools to promote holistic wellbeing, especially for those who are living a sedentary lifestyle, and encourages them to change this habit. Not only that, her passion for healthy living has led her to build a farm over 2 acres of land. Eventually, children will be able to enter for free and with this she aims to show them the “village life” and how it is a healthy alternative to the sedentary life that we live in the cities.

Even when it comes to skin and hair care, Dr Priyanka believes that the overall quality of skin and hair cannot be improved if you only focus on the outer aspect. You need to focus on your diet and supplements and be consistent with those practices.
