Shaji Varghese is a Partner and Director at EQ Investment Advisors Pvt Ltd (EQIA), an early and growth-stage focused PE firm based in Mumbai.

He has over 18 years of experience in Indian financial services industry, including 14 years in VC and PE industry. Prior to EQIA, he was associated with Gujarat Venture Finance Ltd (GVFL Ltd.) where he led early and growth-stage investments in knowledge/technology based industries. He began his VC & PE career with Kerala Venture Capital Fund, a VC fund dedicated to investing in early-stage ventures in Kerala, where he was responsible for investment activities.

Over the span of 14 years, he has led investments in several early/growth stage ventures across sectors in India and executed exits. At EQIA, he is responsible for investment activity, including sourcing deals, executing investments, engaging with and monitoring portfolio companies and planning and executing exit strategies.

He sits on the Board of Reliable Autotech Pvt Ltd and Mantri Metallics Pvt Ltd.

He regularly contributes and speaks at various industry and business forums like Emerging Markets Private Equity Association (EMPEA), SME Chamber of India, Indian Merchants’ Chamber and TiE.

He is an engineering graduate from Kerala University and holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Administration. He is also a qualified Chartered Financial Analyst (India).
