Lucknow: Skill development, industry collaboration, modern infrastructure and a secure investment ecosystem will play the most crucial role in transforming Uttar Pradesh into a trillion-dollar economy. Connecting young people with practical skills alongside formal education and preparing them for employment and entrepreneurship is the need of the hour. This was the key message delivered by Kapil Dev Aggarwal, Member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, during the special session "Mission Trillion Dollar UP: Building the Growth Engine of New India" at Entrepreneur Game Changer Awards 2026 -Uttar Pradesh.
The event, held at Hotel Renaissance, Lucknow, witnessed the presence of Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Chief Guest Brajesh Pathak, Sachin Marya, Editorial Director, Entrepreneur India & APAC, Sanjeev Jha, Editor, Entrepreneur India, senior Uttar Pradesh leader Surya Pratap Shahi, D.P. Singh, along with leading industry representatives, startup founders, investors, policymakers and experts from diverse sectors.
Skill Development Alongside Education Is the Need of the Hour
Addressing the gathering, Kapil Dev Aggarwal said that the biggest challenge facing today's youth is not merely acquiring an education but developing employable skills. He noted that millions of students spend years preparing for competitive examinations and higher education, yet not everyone secures a job. Therefore, he emphasized that students must receive skill-based training alongside academics so they are equipped for both employment and self-employment.
He further stated that the government's responsibility is not limited to creating employment opportunities but also to empowering young people with the skills necessary to become self-reliant and build successful careers.
National Education Policy and Skill Development Have Opened New Opportunities
Kapil Dev Aggarwal said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 has placed special emphasis on skill development within the education system. Students are now being introduced to practical learning and skill-based training from an early stage of their education.
He added that from Class 6 through higher education, students are being prepared according to the evolving needs of industries so they can access better employment opportunities in the future.
ITIs and Technical Institutions Are Being Modernized Rapidly
Kapil Dev Aggarwal highlighted that the Uttar Pradesh government is continuously modernizing technical institutions and Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs). Through industry partnerships and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, numerous ITIs have been equipped with modern machinery, advanced equipment and state-of-the-art training facilities.
He explained that these initiatives are designed to prepare students according to real industry requirements, enabling them to contribute effectively from the very beginning of their careers.
A Secure Investment Climate Has Accelerated Industrial Growth
Kapil Dev Aggarwal stated that Uttar Pradesh has witnessed remarkable improvements in law and order, power supply and infrastructure over the past few years. While investors previously faced several challenges, the state has now emerged as a safe and reliable destination for businesses.
He added that improved road networks, expressways, railway connectivity, air connectivity and uninterrupted 24-hour electricity supply have significantly strengthened investor confidence and accelerated industrial expansion across the state.
Industry Partnerships Are Creating a Skilled Workforce
Kapil Dev Aggarwal said that the state government has built strong partnerships between industries and technical institutions. Under the Dual System of Training, students receive practical exposure within industries, allowing them to understand industrial work culture and modern technologies while still pursuing their education.
He further informed that prestigious organizations and institutions such as FICCI, CII, IIA, IIT Kanpur, and IIT Roorkee are collaborating to provide advanced technical training, continuously enhancing the employability of young professionals.
Future Experts Will Be Trained in AI and Solar Energy
Kapil Dev Aggarwal emphasized that the future economy will be driven by Artificial Intelligence (AI), Solar Energy and other emerging technologies. Accordingly, the state government has launched specialized training programs in these sectors. He said students are being equipped with AI capabilities, emerging technologies and industry-relevant skills so that Uttar Pradesh's youth can compete not only at the national level but also on the global stage.
Skill Development Will Strengthen Mission Trillion Dollar UP
Concluding his address, Kapil Dev Aggarwal said that if sustained efforts continue in education, skill development, industry participation and modern infrastructure, Uttar Pradesh will not only achieve its trillion-dollar economy goal but will also emerge as the strongest growth engine of New India's economic transformation. He further added that empowering young people with skills, opportunities and innovation will lay the strongest foundation for a Developed Uttar Pradesh and a Developed India.
