Ather Energy is all set to showcase its new low-cost electric scooter concept ‘Ather EL’ at the upcoming Ather Community Day on August 30, 2025. The scooter will be based on an all-new platform designed specifically for affordable and family-oriented EVs.
Ather Energy CEO Tarun Mehta said, “Building on the decade-long learnings from the 450 and Rizta platforms, we are introducing our next-generation scooter platform ‘EL’. It is versatile, lower-cost, and highly scalable. This time, we also have a concept to showcase on this platform!”
A teaser image released by the company reveals a family-focused design with simple, traditional body panels. Unlike the sportier Ather 450 lineup, the EL concept emphasizes practicality and everyday usability.
The new platform will feature modular components and battery swapping capability, while also sharing certain parts from Ather’s existing scooters to keep costs under control. Industry experts expect the production version of the Ather EL to rival entry-level variants of the Bajaj Chetak and Ola S1, with prices likely to start under ₹1 lakh. The scooter is expected to hit the market next year.
