Bain Capital has announced the final close of its Asia Fund VI, raising a total of USD 10.5 billion in a move that highlights sustained investor interest in private equity opportunities across the region. The fund includes around USD 9.1 billion in external commitments, surpassing its initial target of USD 7 billion.

The remaining capital has been committed by Bain Capital’s partners, employees and related entities, making them the single largest investor in the fund.

The latest fundraise comes as Bain Capital marks 20 years of operations in Asia. Over this period, the firm has expanded its footprint across key markets including Japan, India, China, Australia and South Korea. It now has a team of nearly 200 investment and operating professionals in the region, focusing on sectors such as technology, healthcare, consumer goods, industrials and financial services.

“Bain Capital’s private equity business has always been built around helping companies realise their full potential through operational improvement, strategic change and close partnership with management teams,” said Yuji Sugimoto, Partner and Head of Asia Private Equity.

He added that the firm has developed a model that combines local market expertise with global capabilities. “Over the past 20 years, we have built those capabilities into our Asia platform in a way that combines local insight with the broader strengths of Bain Capital and that has enabled us to deliver strong outcomes for our investors and partner companies across market cycles,” Sugimoto said.

Bain Capital said its Asia platform works closely with its global businesses, including credit, insurance, real estate, and special situations to pursue complex investment opportunities. These include corporate carve-outs, founder transitions, restructuring and cross-border expansion.

“We continue to see significant opportunities across the region and we are investing in our people our technology and the broader capabilities of the platform so we can keep scaling in a disciplined way and delivering over the long term,” Sugimoto said.

Founded in 1984, Bain Capital manages approximately USD 225 billion in assets globally.
