A leading Australian university plans to open a campus in Bangalore, reflecting confidence in Karnataka’s innovation capabilities. The India-Australia economic cooperation and trade agreement will promote trade and create new opportunities.
According to reports from Bangalore, the Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC) stated that Australia is deepening its ties with Karnataka. This will establish the state as a strategic center for bilateral cooperation in education, technology, and commerce.
The statement was made on Tuesday during a program organized by BCIC in Bangalore, which was part of discussions on free trade between India and Australia under the India-Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA).
There Will Be Academic Collaboration And Technology Exchange Between Australia And Karnataka
Speaking at the program, Vic Singh Trade and Investment Commissioner of the Australian Trade and Investment Commission, highlighted the increasing momentum in Australia-India relations. He said, “Karnataka is playing a central role in this expanded partnership.”
The statement noted that the partnership will primarily focus on key areas such as education and technology. This move comes at a time when a leading Australian university, the University of New South Wales (UNSW), plans to open a campus in Bangalore’s Manyata Tech Park in August this year.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the state and the university was signed earlier this month. Singh said, “As one of the world’s leading universities, UNSW’s decision to establish its presence in Bangalore reflects the confidence of Australian institutions in Karnataka’s talent ecosystem and innovation capabilities. This campus will play a significant role in strengthening academic collaboration, research partnerships and technology exchange between Australia and India.”
