BIT Mesra Campus to Get PNG Network, Partners with GAIL for Clean Energy Infrastructure
In line with the Government of India’s vision for a gas-based economy, Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi, has partnered with GAIL (India) Limited to develop a Piped Natural Gas (PNG) network across its campus.


The signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Indranil Manna, Vice Chancellor, Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra; Dr. Rajesh Jain, Registrar; the Deans of the Institute and, from GAIL (India) Limited, Shri Panchanan Haldar, Chief General Manager (CGD) and Shri Nikhil Kumar, General Manager (CGD), along with other officials from GAIL and members of the Institute administration.

The agreement was formally signed today in the Conference Room of the Institute, BIT, Mesra, Ranchi. The collaboration aims to establish a PNG infrastructure to supply clean and efficient energy across the campus, covering residential quarters, hostels, mess facilities and canteens.

Natural Gas, being safe, economical, convenient, environmentally friendly and easy-to-handle fuel, offers several advantages over traditional fuel sources. This move is a significant step towards promoting sustainability and energy efficiency within the campus.

As per the agreement, GAIL (India) Limited will undertake the laying of the pipeline infrastructure to enable seamless connectivity for both domestic and commercial consumers on the campus.

This partnership marks a significant milestone in BIT Mesra's ongoing efforts to integrate modern utility systems with sustainable campus development and further reinforces the Institute's commitment to responsible resource management and environmentally conscious infrastructure.
