Curefit Appoints Four Independent Directors to Strengthen Board
Curefit has appointed four new independent directors Kalpana Morparia, Arun Kumar, Dr. Indu Bhushan, and Pragya Misra to its board. The move aims to strengthen governance and bring diverse global expertise to the company’s leadership.

Fitness and wellness platform Curefit Healthcare Pvt Ltd has appointed four independent directors—Kalpana Morparia, Arun M Kumar, Dr Indu Bhushan and Pragya Misra—to its board, as the company looks to strengthen governance and bring diverse expertise into its leadership.

The appointments come as Curefit continues to expand its presence across India’s fitness and wellness sector. The company said the new directors bring experience across finance, public policy, global business and technology.

Kalpana Morparia, former Chairman of JPMorgan South and Southeast Asia, joins the board with decades of experience in banking and financial services. She has previously held leadership roles at ICICI Bank and currently serves on several global boards. In January 2024, she was awarded the Padma Shri in the Trade & Industry category.

Arun M Kumar, Managing Partner at Celesta Capital, brings international experience spanning consulting, venture capital and public service. He previously served as Chairman and CEO of KPMG India and was also part of KPMG’s global board. Kumar also held a senior position in former US President Barack Obama’s administration as Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Global Markets.

Dr Indu Bhushan, founding CEO of Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), adds deep expertise in healthcare policy and public systems. A former IAS officer, he has worked with institutions such as the World Bank and Asian Development Bank and has played a key role in shaping large-scale healthcare programmes in India.

Pragya Misra, Head of Strategy & Global Affairs, India at OpenAI, brings experience in technology strategy and policy. She leads OpenAI’s efforts in India across product, partnerships and go-to-market initiatives. Prior to this, she held leadership roles at Truecaller and WhatsApp and was the company’s first hire in India.

Mukesh Bansal, chairman and founder of Curefit, said, “As organisations grow in scale and complexity, strong governance and clarity of thought become increasingly important. We have been thoughtful about on-boarding independent voices who bring rigour, accountability and a wider institutional perspective to the board. Kalpana, Arun, Indu and Pragya each bring that depth, and I look forward to their contributions in helping us build a more resilient and responsible organisation.”

Naresh Krishnaswamy, CEO of Curefit, added, “As we aim to build Curefit for the long term, bringing in diverse, global perspectives to our board is a natural step in our journey. All four leaders bring a unique depth of experience across global business, public systems and technology along with a strong track record of building enduring institutions. Their guidance will be invaluable to us.”

Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Bengaluru, Curefit operates in over 60 cities. Its brand ‘cult’ offers group workouts, gyms, personalised training and fitness products aimed at promoting healthier lifestyles.
