The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) has appointed Shailender Luthra as the new State Chairperson for Delhi. Luthra is a Director at Delhi-based Brite Autowheels, which operates dealerships for Skoda, Nissan and Royal Enfield. FADA announced the appointment alongside the release of Delhi’s vehicle retail data for August 2026.
Delhi recorded total vehicle retail sales of 72,983 units in August 2026, an 18.42% increase compared with 61,631 units in August 2025. Two-wheeler retail sales rose 25.64% to 51,126 units, compared with 40,694 units in the same month last year. Passenger vehicle retail sales also increased 30.16% to 17,506 units.
Commercial vehicle retail sales increased 9.99% to 2,247 units in August 2026, compared with 2,043 units a year earlier. In contrast, three-wheeler retail sales in Delhi declined 61.46%, falling from 5,443 units in August 2025 to 2,098 units. Tractor retail sales increased from one unit to six units during the month.
Commenting on the August performance, FADA Delhi State Chairperson Shailender Luthra said two-wheeler retail sales in Delhi grew 25.6%, compared with 19.7% growth at the national level. He attributed the growth to better product acceptance, improved supplies, the beginning of the festive season and increased market activity.
However, Luthra noted that weak EV demand continues to remain a challenge for the market. Despite this, improved vehicle supplies and festive-season momentum supported strong growth in Delhi’s overall automobile retail market during August 2026.
