The lecture, themed “The Indian Century- Youth, Innovation and Nation Building,” brought together students, educators, parents, alumni and members of the Jaipuria family. The session focused on the role of young people, innovation and education in shaping India’s future.
Shubhanshu Shukla Inspires Students Through Space Journey
During the lecture, Group Captain Shukla shared his journey of becoming an astronaut, including the years of preparation and training that led to the Axiom 4 mission. He spoke about the importance of discipline, teamwork and continuous learning in spaceflight, along with his experience aboard the International Space Station.
His interaction with students highlighted the importance of curiosity, perseverance and the confidence to pursue ambitious goals. He also encouraged students to think beyond individual success and contribute to the country’s development.
Addressing the students, Shukla urged them to develop the mindset to help transform India and contribute towards the goal of making the country a developed nation by 2047. He emphasised that young people should take responsibility for creating positive change in India and the wider world.
Students Get Interactive Learning Opportunity
The programme included an interactive fireside chat with three students of Seth Anandram Jaipuria School. Students asked Shukla about his childhood ambitions, his journey towards becoming an astronaut, the challenges involved in astronaut training and everyday life in space.
Before the main lecture, Shukla also visited an art exhibition and rocket model installations at the school. He later visited the school’s Atal Tinkering Lab, where students showcased their innovative projects and creations.
‘Space Explorer’ Books Launched for Students
A key education-focused highlight of the event was the launch of the ‘Space Explorer’ books for Grades 6 to 8. Developed by the academic team of Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, the books will become part of the school’s curriculum and its Jaipuria Space and Astronomy Programme.
The programme is designed to provide students with structured learning opportunities in areas such as space, astronomy and India’s growing capabilities in space exploration. The initiative aims to build scientific curiosity and encourage students to explore careers and opportunities in STEM and space-related fields.
Focus on Youth, Innovation and Education
The Dr. Rajaram Jaipuria Memorial Lecture is organised in memory of Dr. Rajaram Jaipuria and to carry forward his vision for education and nation building. The event was attended by senior members of the Jaipuria Group of Educational Institutions, students, educators, parents and other invited guests.
During the programme, the Jaipuria Group of Educational Institutions highlighted that the 21st century could become India’s century and that the country’s young population is one of its biggest strengths. The better use of education, innovation, technology and human potential was highlighted as important for India’s future.
