The programme aims to equip youth with essential digital and technology skills for the future. Under the initiative, 150,000 learners will receive foundational knowledge of cloud and AI, while 10,000 participants will receive intensive training in job-ready cloud and AI skills.
The initiative has been launched under the guidance of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India. AWS digital training content and AWS re/Start will serve as the key training programmes. Youth from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities will be given priority, with the initiative planned to reach all states and Union Territories across India.
According to NSDC and Cultus Education, the programme aims to address challenges faced by youth in smaller cities and emerging talent hubs, including limited access to globally recognised technical training, fewer connections with technology companies and a lack of credentials required for cloud and AI jobs.
Focus on Future Skills for Tier-2 and Tier-3 Youth
Under the programme, 150,000 learners will be able to gain foundational knowledge of cloud and AI at their own pace through AWS digital training content. Participants who demonstrate readiness for advanced training will have the opportunity to progress to AWS re/Start, where they will receive structured training in cloud infrastructure, security, networking and AI fundamentals.
AWS re/Start is a free, cohort-based workforce development programme designed to provide participants with practical cloud computing skills and connect them with employment opportunities. Through professional mentors and trained instructors, participants will receive training in areas such as programming, networking, security and relational databases.
The entire training will be delivered 100 percent online, allowing youth from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities to access training without relocating to major metropolitan centres. The programme will conclude with a National Hackathon, where participants will have the opportunity to showcase their cloud and AI solutions to hiring managers, industry leaders and other key stakeholders.
Focus on Future Skills and Employment Opportunities for Youth
On the importance of future skills and employment opportunities for youth, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, Jayant Chaudhary, said the initiative reflects the vision of Viksit Bharat, where opportunities should not be determined by a person’s geography or background. He said that as India moves towards becoming a global hub for innovation, technology and talent, youth in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities should also have opportunities to acquire the skills required for future jobs.
He said such initiatives will play an important role in building an inclusive, skilled and future-ready workforce and will contribute to India’s journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047.
From Skilling to Certification and Employment
Nalin Singh, Group Managing Director, Cultus Education, said that the true measure of skilling is whether the learning process leads to confidence, credentials and meaningful career opportunities. He said the company is focused on making globally relevant cloud and AI skills accessible beyond major metropolitan cities, creating an outcome-driven journey from learning and training to certification and employment.
Learners can enrol in the programme through the online registration portal. They will initially gain foundational knowledge of cloud and AI through AWS digital training content. Participants who are ready for advanced training will then be enrolled in AWS re/Start, where they will receive instructor-led training, hands-on labs and real-world scenario-based learning.
Participants who complete the training will receive an AWS Certification, an industry-recognised credential that validates cloud computing skills. In addition, graduates are expected to receive qualified interview opportunities through connections with local employers.
New Employment Opportunities for Youth in Local Communities
The initiative is an important step towards expanding access to technology education and employment opportunities in parts of India where access to quality digital training remains limited. Through the 100 percent online model, youth across the country will be able to gain modern technology skills without having to relocate.
Prashant Sinha, Chief Operating Officer, NSDC, was also present at the launch. The joint initiative by NSDC, Cultus Education and AWS aims to prepare youth for emerging fields such as cloud and AI while helping build a skilled, inclusive and employment-oriented workforce for the future of India.
