Honda Cars India plans to manufacture its first electric vehicle, Honda 0 Alpha, at its Tapukara plant in Rajasthan with an investment of about 1,200 crore.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma met Takashi Nakajima, President and CEO of Honda Cars India, to discuss the company’s electric vehicle plans in the state. According to a report by ANI, the meeting was held at the Chief Minister’s Office and focused on Honda’s proposal to manufacture its first electric vehicle, the Honda 0 Alpha, at its Tapukara plant in Rajasthan.

The project is expected to involve an investment of around ₹1,200 crore, with production likely to begin later this year. The initiative aligns with the Rajasthan government’s broader strategy to expand industrial activity while promoting cleaner mobility technologies.

The Tapukara facility is expected to become a key manufacturing hub for Honda’s electric vehicles in India. In a post on social media platform X, Sharma said the development is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Make in India for the World” vision.

According to ANI, the Chief Minister also stated that Honda’s first EV model was unveiled during the meeting with the company’s delegation at the Chief Minister’s Office. The project builds on discussions held during Sharma’s visit to Japan in September 2024, when the Rajasthan government invited Honda to invest in EV manufacturing in the state as part of preparations for the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit.

Sharma expressed delight that production of Honda’s first electric vehicle will begin at the Tapukara plant with an investment of ₹1,200 crore. The project is expected to boost industrial growth in Rajasthan while creating employment opportunities for local youth.

The initiative also reflects the state government’s efforts to attract global manufacturers and strengthen Rajasthan’s role in India’s rapidly evolving automotive and electric mobility ecosystem.
