Hyundai Announces Bayon as Name of Upcoming SUV in India

Hyundai Motor India has announced the name of its upcoming SUV, Bayon, which will join the company existing SUV portfolio in India. The automaker said further details about the new model will be revealed in the coming weeks.

According to Hyundai, Bayon is a new global SUV developed with a focus on the next generation of Indian customers. The model will combine Hyundai’s global design and product philosophy with technology-focused features. The company positions the SUV as part of its “intelligent mobility” approach, bringing together design, technology and functionality.

The name Bayon is inspired by Bayonne, a city located in France’s Basque Country. According to Hyundai, the city is known for its distinctive character and dynamic spirit. The company said the name reflects its global design philosophy while also representing the SUV’s positioning around adventure and the changing Indian automotive market.

Tarun Garg, Managing Director and CEO, Hyundai Motor India, said Bayon represents the company’s approach to creating intelligent and intuitive mobility experiences. He added that the SUV will focus on technology designed to integrate seamlessly into customers’ everyday lives.

Hyundai has also released a film to announce the name of the upcoming SUV. Set in a futuristic laboratory-inspired environment, the film shows different elements coming together to form the name Bayon, culminating in the message “Intelligence ON.”

The announcement of the Bayon name marks the first stage of the SUV’s introduction in India. Hyundai is expected to share more details about its positioning, technology, features and other specifications in the coming days.
