Kia India announced on October 9, 2026, that it has expanded its Assured Buyback Programme to cover its entire passenger vehicle range, including internal combustion engine (ICE), hybrid and electric vehicle (EV) models. Under the programme, customers can secure a guaranteed future resale value at the time of purchase. The company offers an assured residual value of up to 75% for ICE models and up to 70% for EVs over a three-year period, providing buyers with greater clarity on their vehicles' future value.
The programme covers six models: the Kia Sonet, Syros, New Seltos, Carens, Carens Clavis and Sorento. It applies to petrol, diesel, CNG, hybrid and electric powertrain variants. Customers purchasing ICE vehicles can choose tenure options of three, four or five years, while EV buyers can select a three- or four-year tenure. Annual mileage options include 10,000 km, 15,000 km and 20,000 km, with total coverage capped at 100,000 km over the ownership period.
Customers can enrol in the programme when purchasing a vehicle through authorised Kia dealerships. At the end of the selected tenure, they can redeem the guaranteed buyback value in accordance with the programme's terms and conditions. Kia India clarified that the programme is independently administered by a third-party partner, while the company facilitates enrolment through its dealer network. Eligibility, valuation methods and settlement procedures are governed by the partner terms.
Residual value has become an important consideration for Indian vehicle buyers, as depreciation can significantly affect the total cost of ownership. For EVs, resale values can be more difficult to predict due to concerns around battery ageing, new model launches and limited historical resale data. By extending its Assured Buyback Programme to electric vehicles, Kia India aims to provide buyers with greater confidence regarding future resale value. The company began manufacturing operations at its Anantapur plant in Andhra Pradesh in 2019, with an annual installed production capacity of 400,000 units. According to Kia India, its cumulative domestic sales have exceeded 1.5 million units, while exports from the Anantapur facility have crossed 367,000 vehicles. The company currently operates 910 touchpoints across 419 cities in India.
