Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi on Tuesday inaugurated the CBSE Experience Centre at the CBSE Integrated Complex in Dwarka, New Delhi. The Centre aims to introduce students to experiential learning, emerging technologies and future career opportunities beyond textbook-based education. According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Education, the Centre will provide students with an immersive learning experience through various interactive activities.

Established at the CBSE headquarters, the Centre will enable students to understand the evolution of education, modern technologies and changing employment opportunities. Its objective is to make school education more practical, engaging and student-centred.

Focus on Understanding Concepts Rather Than Rote Learning

During the inauguration, Pralhad Joshi said that the education system should not be limited to rote learning and examination scores. Instead, education should recognise students’ individual interests, abilities and learning capacities. He said students should have opportunities to understand concepts, apply their knowledge in real-life situations and develop confidence through practical experiences.

According to the Minister, the initiative aligns with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasises experiential and holistic learning. Such initiatives can help develop curiosity, creativity and independent thinking among students.

Government Plans to Establish 50,000 Additional Atal Tinkering Labs

Highlighting the importance of experiential learning, Joshi said students should understand scientific concepts through experiments and hands-on activities rather than merely studying them in textbooks. He stated that 10,000 Atal Tinkering Labs were already operational across the country and the government had decided to establish 50,000 additional labs. These labs aim to promote scientific thinking, innovation and problem-solving skills among students.

He also emphasised the need to equip young people with the knowledge, skills and values required to contribute to society and the country's development. Given the growing importance of technology, manufacturing and innovation, preparing students for the changing demands of the future workforce is essential.

Learning Experience Across 12 Zones and 21 Exhibits

The CBSE Experience Centre spans approximately 6,000 square feet and features 12 major zones and 21 exhibits. RFID-enabled smart cards allow visitors to interact with exhibits, participate in activities and access personalised takeaways and game-based leaderboards.

The experience begins with a film titled ‘Shiksha Ki Kahani’, which traces the evolution of education in India. It highlights the journey from the ancient Gurukul system and historic learning centres such as Nalanda to modern schools and digital classrooms. The Centre also presents the evolution of CBSE through historical photographs and archival records.

Students to Explore Career Options and Future Technologies

The Centre features interactive exhibits such as ‘Career Explorer’, ‘Future of Professions’ and ‘Magic Mirror: Future You’. These exhibits help students explore different career options and understand how the nature of work may change in the coming years. The Centre also offers holographic interactions featuring prominent personalities, including Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.

A dedicated kiosk based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s book ‘Exam Warriors’ encourages students to adopt a healthier approach to examinations. It highlights the importance of managing examination stress, building confidence and maintaining a positive attitude.

The Centre’s final experience, ‘Eduverse’, takes students through visual and interactive journeys across forests, oceans, the Himalayas, the Moon and other planets. It aims to help visitors understand the interconnectedness of natural systems and the role every individual plays in protecting the living planet.
