Plenitude Partners with Pininfarina to Redesign EV Charging Stations
Plenitude has partnered with Pininfarina to develop a new design concept for EV charging stations that can be easily integrated into different urban environments.

Italian energy company Plenitude has announced a strategic partnership with renowned design firm Pininfarina through its subsidiary Plenitude On The Road. The agreement, announced on 3 March 2026, aims to develop a new and modern design concept for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations that can be easily adapted to different urban and regional environments while remaining clearly recognisable.

Under the partnership, Pininfarina will lead the design, development, and implementation of the charging stations. The project will focus on high-quality materials, improved ergonomics, and better integration with surrounding environments. In addition, the companies plan to introduce new services designed to enhance the experience for drivers during charging, although specific details about these services have not yet been disclosed.

As the first step of the agreement, four charging points from Plenitude On The Road will be installed at the Pininfarina headquarters in Cambiano, near Turin in Italy. The installation will include two AC chargers with a capacity of up to 22 kW and two DC fast chargers with a capacity of up to 50 kW. According to the company, the initiative aligns with Pininfarina’s ESG commitments and its efforts toward ecological transition.

Paolo Martini, CEO of Plenitude On The Road, said the partnership combines the complementary expertise of both companies. He noted that the collaboration would help reshape the charging experience and enable more personalised services for EV drivers during a period of rapid technological transformation.

Meanwhile, Paolo Dellachà, CEO of Pininfarina, highlighted the company’s long-standing association with electric mobility, stating that Pininfarina had explored electric vehicle concepts decades ago. He added that the collaboration with Plenitude aims to transform charging areas into more welcoming, recognisable, and environmentally integrated spaces.

Currently, Plenitude operates in more than 15 countries and manages a network of around 23,000 EV charging points. The company, controlled by Eni, generates 5.8 GW of electricity from renewable sources and supplies energy to 10 million customers. It aims to expand its global renewable capacity to 10 GW by 2028.

Founded in 1930, Pininfarina is globally recognised for automotive design and has expanded into architecture, product design, and mobility solutions. The company has completed more than 1,450 automotive and mobility projects and over 750 product and architectural projects to date.

With the demand for EV charging infrastructure growing rapidly across Europe, collaborations between energy companies and design firms are increasingly seen as a key step toward making charging locations more attractive, accessible, and user-friendly, thereby supporting broader EV adoption.
