Pocket FM has appointed former Meta AI scientist Vasu Sharma as Head of AI, strengthening its leadership at a time of rapid global expansion. Sharma will report to Prateek Dixit, co-founder of Pocket FM, and will lead AI research and applied innovation across narrative generation, production intelligence and large scale localisation.
His role includes advancing Pocket FM’s proprietary large language models and the AI CoPilot used by writers across the platform, supporting faster production cycles and improved global adaptability of content.
Sharma previously worked at Meta’s Facebook AI Research division, where he contributed to multimodal and large language model programmes including Llama, Chameleon, MaVIL and several audio video foundation models. He has published more than 90 research papers across leading global conferences, with over 10,000 citations, adding academic depth to Pocket FM’s engineering leadership at a time when investors are closely tracking defensible technology capabilities in media and entertainment companies.
“My focus will be to advance the Pocket LLMs and evolve the AI CoPilot into the definitive creative assistant for writers everywhere, helping them ideate richer plots, preserve voice and emotional cadence, and localise stories with cultural precision” Sharma said. “Our ultimate objective is to unlock a new generation of IPs, powered by AI and enabled by humans.”
Pocket FM’s AI roadmap is closely linked to its monetisation strategy, as the company looks to scale successful story formats across markets while maintaining cost efficiency. Automating parts of ideation, editing and localisation is expected to support margin improvement without diluting creative ownership.
“Vasu brings world class AI research experience, and his expertise in multimodal and long form language models will significantly accelerate our creator’s first AI vision” said Prateek Dixit. “This strengthens our ability to take stories global with precision and scale.”
With more than 250 million listeners worldwide and a creator ecosystem of over 300,000 writers, Pocket FM continues to position AI infrastructure as a central pillar of its long term growth and funding narrative.
