Students in all Delhi government schools were assessed to determine their proficiency in essential subjects like Hindi, English and Mathematics. Now a regular period will be added to every school for classes 2 to 8 to help students master the basic skills of reading, writing and mathematics.
The Initiative is Aligned with the National Education Policy -2020
This initiative will achieve the mission of Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FNL). This plan is in line with the National Education Policy (NEP-2020), which emphasizes a fundamental understanding of Hindi, English, and Mathematics as crucial for laying a strong foundation for further education.
Teachers Have Been Trained
To implement this plan by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT). An SCERT official stated that modules have been developed for these classes, which will strengthen students' basic concepts in all three subjects.
Using These Unique Methods
Teachers will teach children in a courteous and inclusive manner. Methods like 'Buddy Pairs', 'Small Group Support' and 'Rotational Teacher Assistance' have also been asked to be used. Also, all students from class 2 to 5 will sit together in the FNL class. No separate group will be formed. Students from class 6 to 8 will be given extra help as per their needs.
Certificate will be Given After Evaluation
To ensure that this scheme is implemented properly in schools, monitoring is being done at school, district and school level. NIPUN Sankalp Monitoring Team can come to the school anytime without any prior notice and do the assessment. At the end of the year, the achievements of the students will be told in the 'FLN Mela' and on the basis of the evaluation only the schools will be given 'NIPUN Certified' status.
