Sudhir Sitapati Resigns as Godrej Consumer CEO, Aasif Malbari Named Successor

Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL) has appointed Aasif Malbari as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, replacing Sudhir Sitapati, who resigned from the position with immediate effect. Sitapati was reappointed as GCPL’s MD and CEO in May 2026 for a further five-year term beginning October 18, 2026 and ending October 17, 2031. He resigned around three months after the reappointment.

Malbari joined GCPL as Global Chief Financial Officer in 2023. He has also served as President of Godrej Africa and GCPL International. Before joining GCPL, he held leadership positions at Hindustan Unilever and Tata Motors and has more than three decades of experience across the consumer goods and automotive sectors. Malbari will take charge for a five-year term.

Following Malbari’s appointment, Vishal Kedia will serve as interim CFO. GCPL has also said it plans to have separate CEOs for its India and international operations.

The leadership change comes as GCPL works on its India business, including online sales and digital marketing. Executive Chairperson Nisaba Godrej said the company needs greater “execution rigour” and added, “What we want is a step up in execution, delivering results.”

GCPL reported a 12% increase in quarterly profit in its latest results, supported by volume growth. The leadership transition follows the company’s efforts to improve execution and margins amid higher input costs.
