Tata Motors, ThunderPlus Join Hands to Expand EV Charging in Small Cities
Tata Motors and ThunderPlus have partnered to upgrade 250+ charging hubs and launch affordable chargers, boosting EV adoption in smaller cities and rural India.

Tata Motors Limited and ThunderPlus have announced a strategic partnership to promote electric vehicle (EV) adoption in India’s tier-2, tier-3 cities and rural regions by bridging critical charging infrastructure gaps.

As part of the agreement, over 250 ThunderPlus charging hubs across the country will be upgraded with 3.3 kW charge points, offering Tata Ace EV Pro users convenient “charge + park” facilities. Additionally, ThunderPlus will deploy 30 kW GB/T chargers to support Tata Motors’ wider EV portfolio, including the Ace 1000 EV, Ace Pro, and Express-T.

Customers will be able to locate and navigate to ThunderPlus chargers via Tata Motors’ Fleet Edge app, which provides real-time availability and route guidance. ThunderPlus has also introduced a compact AC charger priced at ₹9,999, compatible with 2W, 3W, and 4W vehicles. These units can be installed at homes, warehouses, dairy parlors, and community spaces, transforming them into micro-charging hubs.

The initiative is closely tied to ThunderPlus’ “Charger Lagao Paisa Kamao” campaign, which allows charger owners to earn passive income by listing their charging units for public use on the ThunderPlus app.

Rajeev YSR, CEO of ThunderPlus Solutions Pvt. Ltd., said, “This partnership strengthens our presence in tier-2 and tier-3 cities and accelerates India’s EV ecosystem. Our ‘Charger Lagao Paisa Kamao’ campaign empowers individuals to turn everyday spaces into charging points while generating income.”

Pinaki Haldar, Vice President and Business Head, Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles, added, “Customer confidence is key to EV adoption. This collaboration with one of India’s leading charging operators highlights our commitment to building a robust support network and enabling profitable, zero-emission logistics for entrepreneurs and transporters.”

This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to building an inclusive EV charging ecosystem that extends beyond metropolitan areas and supports India’s larger transition toward sustainable mobility.
