Tsuyo to Build EV Powertrain Plant in Karnataka
Tsuyo Manufacturing has signed an LOI with the Karnataka government to set up an EV powertrain factory and a large commercial vehicle testing track in the state.

Tsuyo Manufacturing has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with the Government of Karnataka to establish a new EV powertrain manufacturing facility along with a large commercial vehicle testing track. The agreement was formalized during the Bengaluru Tech Summit 2025 in the presence of government officials and industry representatives.

The upcoming facility will produce a wide range of electric mobility components, including multiple motor topologies, e-drives, e-axles, automatic transmissions, integrated powertrain units, and complete assemblies for heavy commercial electric vehicles. It will also feature a dedicated testing track designed for field testing and validation of buses, trucks, mining vehicles, and industrial EVs.

According to Tsuyo, the plant will support manufacturing capacities ranging from 0.5 kW to 250 kW, with the potential to scale up to 600 kW through partnerships with CETL and LvKON. The company believes the project will strengthen domestic manufacturing, boost supply-chain resilience, and support the country’s rapidly expanding heavy commercial EV ecosystem.

The initiative is expected to generate both direct and indirect employment, contributing to industrial development in the state. Tsuyo also stated that the advanced testing and validation infrastructure will help develop India-specific powertrain technologies tailored to diverse terrains and use conditions.

The Karnataka government noted that the project aligns with its efforts to boost EV investments and support local industry, creating new opportunities in the region’s growing electric vehicle sector.
