UltraTech Deploys 45 Electric Heavy Trucks
UltraTech Cement has deployed 45 electric heavy-duty trucks in northern India, marking a major step toward sustainable logistics.

UltraTech Cement Limited, India's leading cement manufacturer, has commenced the deployment of 45 electric heavy-duty trucks in partnership with Energy In Motion (EIM). The initiative is among the largest deployments of electric heavy-duty vehicles in the cement industry across northern India.

The trucks will be used to transport clinker from UltraTech's Kotputli Cement Works in Rajasthan to its Dadri Cement Works and Sikandarabad Cement Works in the Delhi-NCR region. The route spans approximately 250 kilometres, passing through Rajasthan, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.

According to the company, each truck is capable of carrying a 55-tonne payload. The fleet is expected to reduce more than 8,900 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions annually while replacing approximately 2.9 million litres of diesel consumption per year, significantly lowering both fuel usage and environmental impact.

The deployment follows a transport service agreement between UltraTech, EIM, and a logistics service provider. Company officials stated that the initiative is a significant step toward demonstrating the commercial viability of long-haul electric trucking in India and aligns with the government's broader objective of promoting zero-emission commercial transportation.

UltraTech has been steadily expanding its sustainable logistics portfolio over the past few years. The company introduced CNG trucks in 2021, LNG trucks in 2022, and began deploying electric trucks in 2024. As of FY 2025-26, UltraTech operates a green fleet of more than 750 vehicles, including 638 CNG trucks, 32 LNG trucks, and 89 electric trucks across its manufacturing network.

Part of the Aditya Birla Group, UltraTech Cement is recognized as the world's largest cement company outside China by sales volume, with a total grey cement production capacity of 205.5 million tonnes per annum. The company is also a signatory to the Global Cement and Concrete Association's (GCCA) Climate Ambition 2050 initiative and remains committed to its Net Zero Concrete roadmap.

With this latest deployment, UltraTech is strengthening its sustainable logistics strategy while setting a benchmark for the adoption of clean-energy transportation solutions in India's industrial sector.
