Hailing from an archetypal middle-class service-minded family background in Rajasthan, he had an extremely conventional education. He graduated from the Malaviya National Institute of Technology in mechanical engineering in Jaipur. He came to Mumbai, the maximum city and the city of dreamsto chase his entrepreneurial dream. He started off as an adviser to first-time entrepreneurs in helping them set up factories on a concept to commissioning” basis. When he set up his company Singhi Advisors in 1989, little did he know that he was about to create a history.
With time, his company went through several organic transformations. It evolved from a project advisory to project finance and subsequently to full-fledged corporate finance/syndication services. The Team Singhi also expanded accordingly to service its clients. Once his business got fresh momentum, he tried to move up the value chain further by getting into financial restructuring which involved selling of sick units which are in the clutches of the lenders to their healthy clients. His company started managing divestments of non-core businesses of large business houses to mid-market companies. Meanwhile, he built a strong team with more than 15 professionals. He also opened offices at Delhi, Bangalore and Kolkata during 2000-2004. He eventually entered the elite world of investment banking by expanding teams, geographical penetration and strengthening focus on achieving successive deal closures in the knowledge-based domestic and cross-border M&As.
There was no looking back since then. Singhi Advisors at the moment is touted amongst top 10 M&A advisory firms in India with footprint in 22 countries globally through strategic stake in one of the largest global networks -Mergers Alliance.
